Anthony Gold Partner and former HLPA Chair sadly passes away.
We would like to express our profound sadness on learning today that Giles Peaker passed away over the weekend.
There is no underestimating the debt which our whole HLPA community owe to Giles.
Giles’ NearlyLegal blog has been an invaluable source of knowledge for us all for so long and his posts reflected his intelligence, wit and compassion for the vulnerable people he represented. A former Chair of HLPA, Giles spoken at numerous HLPA conferences, always so ready and willing to share his immense knowledge and experience with us all.
Giles was also one of the main driving forces behind the Homes (Fitness for Habitation) Act 2018 which transformed the legal landscape for tenants and occupiers living in poor housing conditions. Right up to his death, he continued to work tirelessly to shine a light on ways in which the lives of tenants and the homeless and vulnerably housed could be improved through changes to the law.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Giles’ family and friends and to all his colleagues and friends at Anthony Gold. Our thoughts are with you all at this dreadful time.
